Ella and Udawalawa
The excursion combines two of Sri Lanka's most memorable experiences: picturesque Ella and a safari in Udawalawe National Park. You will travel by train, see the famous Nine Arch Bridge, tea plantations, and panoramic mountain views, Ravana Falls, Little Adam's Peak, and then go on a jeep safari to observe elephants and other wild animals in their natural habitat. Ella is a small hill town, compact enough to walk everywhere, and that's a big part of its appeal: Little Adam's Peak is an easy climb at sunrise, Ella Rock is a longer route, and the Nine Arch Bridge is located right in the middle of the tea country, with a train passing over it several times a day. The train ride here is often described as one of the most scenic in the world, and the Ravana Falls holds ancient history. Thanks to the open plains of Udawalawe, this is the best park in Sri Lanka for elephant viewing - herds of thirty or more are not uncommon. Most tours end at the baby elephant sanctuary, where the orphaned calves are bottle-fed before being released back into the park.
